Gaustatoppen stands at 1,883 metres in the Telemark region — Norway's most visited mountain and one of the most spectacular views in all of Scandinavia. On a clear day, you can see one-sixth of Norway from the summit: a panorama of ridges, lakes, and valleys stretching to the horizon in every direction.
The journey from Oslo winds through Telemark's valleys, past mirror-still mountain lakes and traditional Norwegian villages. Your driver knows the route well — including the hidden detours and viewpoints that make the drive itself part of the adventure.
Two ways to reach the summit:
- 1. Hike — ~2.5 hrs up, 1.5 hrs down. Challenging but very rewarding. Proper boots required.
- 2. Gaustabanen mountain train — Runs inside the mountain from 860m to 1,788m. Norway's highest railway. We can assist with ticket booking in advance.

Do I need to be fit to do the Gaustatoppen tour?
The summit hike is challenging — about 5 km with 900 metres of elevation gain. It's doable for most reasonably fit people, but it's a proper mountain. The Gaustabanen mountain train is an alternative that takes you most of the way up.

What should I bring?
